Danita Sue Morris, 57, of Texarkana

Danita Sue Morris, 57, of Texarkana passed away Sunday, January 30th, 2022 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Little Rock.  She was born in Danville, September 8th, 1964 to A. D. and Carolyn Morris.

Danita graduated from Danville High School, earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Arkansas Tech University and received her Master’s Degree at Texas A&M.

The majority of her career was spent on the business side of the higher education system.  She served as the Institutional Research Officer for the University of Arkansas, Hope-Texarkana for the past 9 years, after beginning her employment with the university in 1994.  Prior to this role she worked as the Registrar for the university.  Her co-workers often referred to her as the “data queen”, because of her sharp skills and abilities researching and analyzing data.  Her efforts were instrumental in assisting the university with securing institutional funding and meeting their reporting requirements.  She received awards at the state level for her contributions and knowledge.  Danita loved every minute of her work and was extremely devoted to the education system.

She also had prior employment as the Registrar for Pulaski Technical College in Little Rock and a Systems Analyst at the Department of Information Systems.

Danita was preceded in death by her father, A. D. Morris, grandparents Joe & Ila Hancock, J.B. & Frances Morris, J.D. & Lanie Sue Ormand, uncles Bud, Dick, Gerald Hancock, Lee, Ray, Arnold, James, Norman Morris, aunts Oneita May, Velta Hancock, Lenore Hall, Effigene Stapleton.

Survivors include her son, Josh Ormand of Stamps, mother Carolyn Morris of Danville, sister & brother-in-law Vicki and Greg Johnston of Little Rock, her son’s father Danny Ormand of Stamps.  Special cousin “Aunt” Pat Pyle and a great host of cousins, family and friends.

Danita was an avid Razorback sports fan and could always be found watching the games.  She loved nurturing her roses and decorating her bird cage on the front porch with a new creative theme every few months.

Services will include visitation on Sunday, February 6th from 2 to 4 PM at Cornwell Funeral Home in Danville.  Funeral will be at the Danville United Methodist Church Monday, February 7th at 11:00 A.M with Rev. Tom Sullinger officiating.  Burial – Earl Ladd Cemetery.
