HOPE, AR. – A large crowd gathered in the sweltering summer heat to officially cut the ribbon on the much-anticipated Henry C. Yerger Museum. To compliment the event were the many blue and yellow t-shirts of those attending the Yerger Reunion that continues through the weekend.

Ale Mae Flenory of the Yerger Alumni Association made remarks prior to cutting the ribbon listing many of the key players in seeing the project to it’s finish. The primary participants gathered at the front door of the historic building and cut the ribbon to plenty of fanfare.

The crowd was happy to amble inside the air-conditioned building and get off of God’s sidewalk skillet that had heated to a 90-plus degree temperature by mid-morning. Inside awaited the long, rich history of Yerger High School and the leaders who were instrumental in the school through well-preserved photos, key papers and descriptions of the Yerger life.

The pictures tell a story of not so much of a struggle to succeed, but moreover the tremendous achievements by its leaders and especially its students. Students who continue to gather for scheduled reunions and carry on the legacy of that school and its important role in Hope, Arkansas history.

For more information and to visit, the museum is open to the public Thursday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
