Overlay work to be done on Olive, Greenlawn and Whiteside

PRESCOTT – Starting Aug. 1, and for 30 working days thereafter, the Arkansas Highway Department will be doing overlay work on three streets in Prescott.

Prescott Mayor Terry Oliver, Thursday, said this is part of the state aid project with the city receiving $300,000 for the work. The streets affected are: Olive, Greenlawn and Whiteside. Crews have been patching the streets and will return to begin the overlay portion Monday. Work will begin on Olive St.

However, Oliver said, residents are being asked to be patient and not drive on Olive St. until the asphalt has time to set, as it could be damaged because of the heat. He continued, saying residents need to follow the signs directing them  where to go.

While the Highway Department has 30 days to complete the project, which would put the completion date around Sept. 9, much will depend on the weather.

The overlay work is being done by C.F. Construction of Smackover.
