Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Chris Jones Visits Hope

Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Chris Jones visited Hope Wednesday afternoon.  Jones met with supporters are Terry Powell’s Grocery.  Jones is undertaking a “walk across Arkansas” program.  “It’s about neighbors talking to neighbors” said Jones.  “It’s about getting out in Arkansas….We did a 75 county tour once and this is the second 75 county tour we’re doing, walking a mile with Arkansans” said Jones.  He said they’re “having real conversations about issues that matter, about their own life stories and about their vision for the state.  That’s what I wanted to do, that’s what we wanted to do and that’s what I’m excited about”.

Jones is a native of Pine Bluff and studied Math and Physics at Morehouse College, studied at M.I.T. to become a nuclear engineer, and earned a Ph.D in Urban Plan.  His past work experience includes running the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub.

Jones’ platform includes his “Promise for Arkansas” which reads “The Promise of Arkansas is the Faith that together we can address our challenges. It is the Hope that unified we make space for all Arkansans to live out our unique potential. It is the Hard Work of change in our souls and in our lives. The promise begins by spreading PB&J across the state—expanding preschool to all families, affordable broadband for every home, and economic development focused on creating high wage jobs.”

Jones visited with several supporters and answered a question from a teacher.
