Fair Parade Draws Big Crowd, Fair Continues This Week

The Fair Parade in downtown Hope Tuesday drew big crowds in part due to perfect weather.  Whether on a parade entry like this toddler or on the sidewalk like Bailey Rogers who was enjoying her first parade, the event delighted everyone.

Parade winners in the “Open” category included Granny’s Babies Child Care in 3rd, A Venue for You in 2nd, and UAHT Trio in 1st Place.  In the Queen’s parade entries, 3rd place went to Little Miss Howard County, 2nd to Baby Miss Nevada County, and 1st to Baby Miss Hempstead County.  In the Junior Division, 3rd place went to Cub Scouts, 2nd to Spring Hill, and 1st to Garrett Memorial Christian School.

The fair continues through Saturday with plenty of activities.  Wednesday has an armband day scheduled for 5pm to 9pm.  Thursday will see the cattle, goat, and sheep show while the exhibits open at 11am.  There will also be an armband day Thursday from 4pm to 9pm.  Breakaway roping is set for 7pm Thursday in the rodeo arena.

The swine show is set for Friday at 9am. Exhibits open that day at 11am and the carnival opens at 5pm.  There will be music in front of the coliseum at 6pm Friday night followed by Roughstock Productions’ “Bullriding Nationals” at 7:30pm.

The fair wraps up Saturday.  The rabbit judging takes place Saturday at 10am.  Exhibits open at 11am.  There will be an armband day for the carnival Saturday from 1pm to 5pm.  The carnival will remain open all evening.  Mariachi music will be presented at 6pm in front of the coliseum and Roughstock Productions will present the final night of “Bullriding Nationals” Saturday at 7:30pm.
