Swampriders raise thousands for ACH
PRESCOTT – Since 1998, the Swamprider Motorcycle Club has held an auction to raise money for the Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
Normally, the event is held at the club’s clubhouse. This year, though, it was moved to A Venue for You, owned by Karen Ward. Tables were filled with items donated to the club by businesses and individuals to help with the fundraiser. The benefit was started in 1998 after Kelli Craig, daughter of club members Lindell and Carla Graig, died at ACH. Since then the club has held an auction and raised more than $100,000, with every penny donated to the ACH. All donations are tax deductible as the Swampriders are a 501(c)3 organization.
The club decided to move the event so more people could participate.
There were all kinds of things to choose from for those who attended the auction. Some of the items were: shirts for men and women, a collectible Harley Monopoly game, hand tools, power tools, an Igloo ice chest, electric chain saw, pellet gun with a scope and several knives, some handmade.
When the bidding started, it didn’t take long for the bids to outstretch the actual value of the item being auctioned off.
