EVA announces holiday plans

EMMET – The Emmet Vision Association has a busy December planned for residents.
First, on Saturday, Dec. 3, there will be a tree-lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. at the Emmet City Hall and Fire Department. There will be carolers, a chance for children to write letters to Santa, cookies, hot cocoa and the Christmas Story, along with hayrides through town.
There is no cost to attend and participate in this event.
On Saturday, Dec. 10, Emmet will host its annual Christmas Parade. The route will be different from last year and will be marked with signs in advance to let people know where to do, and pick a spot to watch from. Lineup for the parade will be at 5:30 p.m. at the old Emmet school with the parade to start at 6 o’clock. The new route also ends at the school.
Following the parade, those attending are invited to head to the Chuck Wagon at Arkla Village where the festivities continue. There will be refreshments, and children can visit with Santa while receiving a special gift.
This year, the EVA has added a new feature for children ages five and under and six to 12.
There will also be a memorial tree for those who once lived in Emmet, but have passed away. The tree is available for tracing ancestry.
