Hope City Board

The Hope City Board met Tuesday for their final regular meeting of 2022.
Assistant City Manager J.R. Wilson and Judy Watson of Rainbow of Challenges addressed the board about the city annexing some ROC property at 3319 Patmos Road. Watson noted they planned to use the property, formerly Wee People, as a group home and an apartment on the property will be utilized as well. City Attorney Randy Wright read an ordinance which would approve the annexation and the board approved it.
Under the City Manager’s Report, Assistant City Manager J.R. Wilson gave updates on 6th Street, the Street Scape project, a U.V. project at one of the water treatment plants, an update on a police grant effort, and the pocket park on 2nd downtown. Wilson noted the overhead electric line there has been relocated underground. Finally, Wilson paid tribute to City Manager Catherine Cook as this is her final meeting.
Cook gave an update on some findings today by a crew working on city hall that some caulking or mortar is needed on the east and north side of City Hall. She noted that will need to be addressed soon.
The board paid tribute to Cook with flowers and a card on the occasion of her final meeting. She noted she has attended more than 700 city board meetings in her 32 years with the city and offered her thanks to all the board members she has worked with.
The board went into executive session at 7:22pm. The board reconvened at 7:39pm and no action was taken. The meeting then adjourned.
