Hempstead County Quorum Court

The Hempstead County Quorum Court held their last regular meeting of 2022 on December 22nd.  The JP’s approved a budget which will authorize expenditures of approximately $5 million dollars for county general against anticipated revenue of over $5.2 million.  The road department budget will be just under $4.2 million against anticipated revenue of over $5 million dollars.  These are the biggest components of the budget with many other smaller categories.

The JP’s approved an appropriation ordinances for the county health unit to cover approximately $33,500 in anticipated expensenses.

A third ordinance was approved to levy county taxes for real and personal property for the county, municipalities, and schools.  These taxes did not increase and approving them is a routine matter.

JP Jessie Henry thanked the JP’s and county officials for their efforts this past year.  The meeting then adjourned.
