Mayor Gives Short Update on the City at Kiwanis

The first meeting of the Hope Kiwanis Club for 2023 was a “club day” meeting ; however, the club members asked Mayor Don Still still for a brief update on the city.  Mayor Still noted the board was scheduled to meet that evening and reorganize.  He noted Interim City Manager J.R. Wilson had things in hand.  Mayor Still said Wilson has served as Assistant City Manager for the past several years so his transition to Interim City Manager was painless.  Kiwanian Jimmy Courtney noted Assistant Police Chief Kim Tomlin is currently serving as Acting Police Chief during Chief Wilson’s tenure as Interim City Manager.

The City Board has engaged a company to assist them in a search for a new city manager.  Mayor Still said he believes the city has received about 15 applications for the job.
