Ribbon cutting held for New 4 You

EMMET – A ribbon cutting ceremony was held for Emmet and Nevada County’s newest business, New 4 You, Wednesday morning at the old Emmet bowling alley.

The business is a resale shop owned and operated by Johnny and Pam Dougan, who also own Sew Fine and JD Services. The business came about when the couple was left a house full of furniture and what not after the death of Mary Lou Barksdale, who they’d been taking care of. Having no other family, Barksdale left everything to the Dougans.

Pam said there was no place for them to hold an estate auction, and they had things to get rid of as well from when Johnny and his brother, Donnie, went to auctions, so they worked with Emmet to rent the bowling alley. She said the goal is to have community garage sales monthly and to rent booths for consignment sales. New 4 You will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Johnny will be doing his computer repair out of the shop as well, while Pam will operate Sew Fine from their home.

The business has a little of everything from furniture to tools, tables, a sewing machine, VCR tapes, DVDs, books, costume jewelry, Christmas ornaments and what not, knickknacks, what-knots and bric-a-brac, along with prints.

They agree estate sales, yard and garage sales are hard for those with little or no parking for potential customers. Donnie said New 4 You could also be used for future estate sales, garage sales or yard sales.
