James William “Jim” Caston, 87, of Cleburne, Texas (formerly of Hope)

James William (Jim) Caston, 87, of Cleburne, TX, died peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, in his home, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer, with Pat, his wife of 43 years, at his side.
Son of James P. and Virgie I. (Parsons) Caston, Jim was born Dec. 27, 1935, in Louann, AR, and later moved to Hope, AR, where Jim graduated from Hope High School in 1954, and was voted Most Valuable Player of the Bobcats football team his senior year. He attended college in Texarkana, AR.
Jim served four years in the Army, worked in the oil field in Odessa, TX, was a police officer there, then did furniture refurbishing in Tyler, TX, before becoming an insurance adjuster.
Jim married Pat Robertson Beach on May 4, 1979, and spent 55+ years as an independent insurance adjuster, owning his own business, All Cities Claims Services, Inc., in Cleburne, for 25 yrs., until Dec.2022. He was named the national “I A Path Adjuster’s Auto and Heavy Equipment Adjuster of the Year” for 2021.
Jim was a man of many talents and the first to volunteer when work was needed, especially at his church, Three Nails Cowboy Bible Church in Cleburne, where he will be remembered for his dedication to the Lord and his church, and his ability for woodworking. He built a number of the items used in the church, and some of his handcrafted wood projects adorn his own home. Others were often gifts for family and friends to cherish.
James was preceded in death by his parents, J.P. and Virgie Caston, and four siblings—Jo Caston Mouhot, Terry Glynn Caston, Greta Caston Gough Lyon and Charles Edward Caston.
James deeply loved his family and friends, and is survived by his wife Pat, son Mike (Debra) Caston of Dallas, son Ty (Susan) Beach of Navarre, FL, daughter Tammy Beach (David) Stewart of Cedar Hill, TX, four sisters: Callie (Don-Deceased) Smith of Port Allen, LA, Virgie (AC) Sinyard of Hope, AR, Barbara/Bobbie (David) Vick of Hot Springs, AR, and Mary Alice (Bruce) Cash of Hot Springs, AR, as well as three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Sat., Feb. 11, at 1 p.m. at Three Nails Cowboy Bible Church; 2412 FM 2135 (Island Grove Rd); Cleburne, TX. 75031. Refreshments will be served at the church from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Three Nails Cowboy Bible Church or to the charity of your choice.
