BSA Troop 5 works on Aviation badge

MENA – Hope’s Scout Troop 5 made a weekend trip to Mena to  take Aviation Merit Badge. They stayed at Pioneer Campgrounds, which is part of the original Camp Pioneer that is owned by Matt Foust of Franklin, Tennessee.
Foust is a commercial airline pilot for Southwest Airlines. The youth had classroom instructions about the principles of flying an airplane and then had hands on experiences learning the controls at the Mena airport. Runway Aviation Training hosted the Scouts at the airport. As always the Troop had great meals of breakfast casseroles, tortellini soup, biscuits and gravy and a trip to town for all you can eat pizza and Stromboli at Simple Simons.  The kids had a ball at the arcade there.
