Hempstead County Historical Society Hears Program on Klipsch Heritage Museum Association

Tuesday evening at the Presbyterian Church in Washington the Hempstead History Meeting took place. This month the Klipsch Heritage Museum Association presented. Becky Moore gave the presentation. She spoke about the facilities and mentioed that Elvis had played in 1955 in the auditorium. Moore showed a picture of the backyard of the visitor’s center when the building was acquired and now. She stated that vo we see volunteer women had cleaned the yard, painted rooms, and done cleaning and reconstruction.
Moore showed the different rooms of the visitor center – the listening room with a 1950s theme, the talbot fields dining room – now the 1970s room. Each of these rooms have period piece antiques which were supplied by Linda Walker.
The plan is to have the outdoors for venues and have catering kitchen adjacent to it.
Pictures were shown of the the presentation of the first $1000 PWK award and the cover of Arkansas Money and Politics Magazine in which PWK museum was extensively covered.
The meeting went on to cover events in the Klipsch Auditorium and previous events with Sounds Downtown and the accompliments of two new board members, 15 new KHMA members as well as 200+ visitors.
For the upcoming events Moore mentioned Stephen Walden – an amazing artist – will be painting 3D paintings for which 3 D glasses will be supplied. He is the official painter for baseball events.
