Hope Native Dr. Lynda Phillips Johnson Sworn In To Arkansas Black History Commission

Hope native, Dr. Lynda Phillips Johnson was recently sworn in by the secretary of state, John Thurston to the Arkansas Black History Commission. A 1969 graduate of the last graduating class of Yerger high school, was appointed a commissioner to the board by governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders with a term of seven years expiring 2030. This is not the first governor appointment for the life long educator as Johnson was appointed to the higher education commission board, by then Governor Mike Huckabee where she served for seven years,  three of those years as the board secretary.  Dr. Johnson is the daughter of Hope’s life residents and Social community supporters the late Lurlean Cannon Phillips, and granddaughter of Reece and Inez Cannon.
