Health fair well attended
PRESCOTT – Saturday’s health fair was more than information booths.
The fair, held at the former Fitness Center on Elm Street, also featured bounce houses, basketball and air hockey for youngsters on the street. Food vendors showed up to make it a party atmosphere. The event was sponsored by UAMS GAP services and provided information on a wide variety of health, physical and mental, topics. However, the primary focus was on HIV/AIDS prevention.
Those attending could get glucose and blood pressure checks along with COVID vaccines, which came with a $50 gift card. People of all ages had fun with the drunk and stoned goggles. These are goggles simulating the effects of alcohol and marijuana use and show how people’s vision and balance are affected. There was information on poison control, restoring communities, stroke, cancer, and hunger relief. One table provided PSA checks for men to screen for prostate cancer by taking blood tests.
There was also face painting and an area where photos were taken as those getting photographed were spun around.
In all, the event was well attended and those on hand left with plenty of information.
