Hope Civitans Learn About “Balvistics”

Hope Civitans tested their eye-hand coordination and balance at their March 28 meeting, with Mrs. Bonnie Raff giving instruction in “balvistics.”  She provided small bouncy balls for each Civitan to toss with one hand downward and catch with the other upraised hand in one exercise, and to bounce to the person on their right while catching the ball coming from the person on their left in another exercise.  Mrs. Raff is a retired first grade teacher who used interactive methods to help her students avoid distraction and pay attention, which helped them all to read on grade level.  She also brought a balance board for Civitans to try and showed how easily a balance beam could be made for young students.  Pictured (from left) are Civitans Rachel Parson and Twyla Pruden, Mrs. Raff, and Civitans Debbie Hines and President Mona Still.
