Hope FFA Rodeo A Big Success

The annual Hope FFA Rodeo was an exciting event.  Held this past Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the Fair Park coliseum the event,  started with a parade of riders one carrying the U.S. Flag and another the FFA flag while the National Anthem was played.
The first competition on Saturday night was bareback riding.  Following this was the Jr Queens, Jr Bulls and then pole racing. Riders showed both speed and agility during this activity.
The calf halter event proved to popular with one animal escaping after already being caught. This event took longer than expected as the calves put up a good fight.
The pig scramble turned out to be a popular event for the younger set.  They eagerly lined up and were off running once the squealing pigs were released.
Other events included  goat tying, hide riding, wild steer tagging, mutton busting, barrel pickup, chute dogging,
barrel riding,  and bull riding.
The Hope FFA Rodeo is the oldest high school rodeo in the state and was first held in 1959.
