Victim identified in Lafayette County plane crash

MARS HILL – The pilot killed in a small plane crash Sunday afternoon in Lafayette County has been identified. According to Arkansas State Police Captain Brady Gore, the victim was 46-year-old Christopher Bailey of Homer, LA.

According to Captain Gore, three small planes were flying together and had landed earlier at a private air strip around the Mars Hill community in rural Lafayette County.  After clearing the runway and tree line during takeoff, the plane apparently developed trouble and crashed.

The National Transportation Safety Board, Federal Aviation Administration, and the Arkansas State Police investigation is ongoing.
