Rosston Native Named “Teacher of the Year” for Geyer Springs Early Childhood Center

Valerie Denette Young, a native of Rosston, Arkansas, was named teacher of the Year for Geyer Springs Early Childhood Center in Little Rock.  She is the daughter of the late Zeola and Jesse Young of Rosston, Arkansas.
She been an educator for 22 years. She also taught in Hope Public School District for 16 years, Walker schools for 1 year, Magnolia for 1 year, and this is her 4th year in the Little Rock School District.
She is a 1995 Highest Honor Graduate of Nevada High School of Rosston, Arkansas.  She received her undergraduate degree for Henderson State University.  She also received her two master degrees from Southern Arkansas University.
One of her masters is in Curriculum and Instruction and the other one is Public School Administration.
She has often been asked why aren’t you using your master degrees. Her answer is “the kids need me…
