Sunday Night Fire In Downtown Hope Causes Smoke Damage But No Structural Damage

The Hope Fire Department, the Hope Police, and Pafford responded to a smoky fire in a building used by the Beauty Depot of 218 East 2nd. According to Hope Fire Chief Todd Martin, firemen responded about 10:15pm. Upon gaining entry, firemen discovered a dryer had overheated and burned. There was virtually no structural damage but the fire caused several buildings to have some smoke get in them. Several of the buildings on that block share an attic and smoke at least got into this area above the businesses. The owner of Powers Fitness was on hand and that business had some smoke in its buildings. As of 11:15pm, firemen had not made contact with a beauty/barber shop and Hope Beauty Supply on that block. There were no injuries and primarily smoke damage from the fire.
