Hempstead County paid tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice Monday in observance of Memorial Day. Hempstead County in conjunction with American Legion Post #421 held the observance on the lawn of the old Courthouse. A large, respectful crowd was on hand to hear remarks from keynote speaker U.S. Army Col. (retired) David Lively.
The colors were presented by Troop 5 of the Boy Scouts and a contingent of Sheriff’s Deputies offered a 21 gun salute.
