Hope Public Schools Seeking Millage Increase

The Hope Public Schools have announced they are seeking a millage increase of 12 mills in an election set for August 8th. The Hope Millage is currently 34.7 mills which is one of the lowest rates in the area. Currently, Hope is 200th out of 225 districts statewide in the number of assessed mills.
Should the measure pass, the district is planning improvements to Yerger, Clinton Primary, Beryl Henry, and Hope High. Plans call for Yerger to get upgraded learning spaces, sustained academic programs, better parking and traffic flow, and updated student athletic facilities. Plans for Clinton Primary and Beryl Henry call for new digital signage at each campus. Hope High would receive upgrades to the Agri facility, new exteriof lighting, landscaping and curb appeal, investments for safer building entry, and improvements to athletic complexes.
The measure, if passed, would also help with staff recruitment and retention. If passed, this would be the first millage increase in the district in almost 35 years.
