Buffalo Bill Cowboy Band Kicks Off Music In the Park

The Buffalo Bill Cowboy Band kicked off the 2020 edition of “Music in the Park” Saturday at Historic Washington State Park.  The band moved in the 1940 WPA Gym due to threatening weather but a good crowd was still on hand for the program and the group garnered high marks from the audience.

Buffalo Bill Cowboy Band is from the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas. They seek to preserve the history of one of America’s famous traveling shows in the 19th century. The Wild West music library is made up of musical compositions and arrangements from The Golden Age of American Bands (1880-1920) and includes pieces written specifically for Buffalo Bill’s Wild West. The original Wild West Show visited the area at the turn of the 20th century in Texarkana.

The next Music in the Park is set for July 15th and will feature the McWiliams Family Band.  The McWilliams Family Band is a local family from Southwest Arkansas that plays a mixture of Americana folk and bluegrass music. They have entertained neighbors and friends alike at church gatherings and community events. They also run the Gap Mercantile Store in Caddo Gap, Arkansas.
