James Peachey
James Roy Peachey, 90, of Jonesboro passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born May 28, 1933 in Prescott, Arkansas to the
late William and Earnie Peachey. James was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ attending both Southwest and Valley View Church of Christ. He would attend wherever a potluck was being served, and usually be first in line.
James attended Southern State in Magnolia, Arkansas, Oklahoma State University, and University of Arkansas ultimately achieving a Masters in Agriculture. He also served as a medic in the US Army. James worked for the University Of Arkansas Division Of Agriculture Research and Extension for 39 years serving in Faulkner, Pope, Benton, Polk, and Craighead counties. After retiring in 1993 with emeritus status, he worked in banking as an agricultural advisor for 8 years. He was a member of the Rotary Club, Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce, and Farm Bureau serving on the board of directors and multiple committees for 28 years.

James loved helping people with anything in agriculture or gardening. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and cheering for the Razorbacks. Most of all James loved his family and bragging on his daughters’ and granddaughters’ accomplishments. In addition to his parents and an infant sister, James was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Orva Dee Peachey.
Survivors include his 2 daughters, Pam (Russell) Hill of Little Rock, Sandra (Art) Hingst of Hermann, Missouri; 2 step-sons Alan and Rodney Slinkard; 1 brother, Ernest H. (Myra)
Peachey of Prescott; 6 grandchildren: Heather (Derek) Thompson of Scott, Arkansas, Haley Hingst of Mason, Ohio, Heidi Hingst of Hermann, Rachel Rossi, Rebecca Rossi and Tori Hill all of Little Rock; 1 great grandchild, Margot Thompson; 4 step-grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be Monday, June 19, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Chris Harrell officiating.
Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial will be Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. in De Ann Cemetery, Prescott, Arkansas.
