Special Hope School Board Meeting
The Hope Public School Board met at the Administrative Building on Thursday evening. Items on the agenda were aspiring leaders, auction/sale/salvage of older surplus equipment as well as an executive session on the personnel packet.
As well as seeking a millage increase HPS is focused encouraging staff to stay and to promote leadership, this the Aspiring Leaders Fellowship.
Hope Public Schools is dedicated to the long-term sustainability of effective leadership. The fellowship is an internal leadership pipeline that fulfills the schools’ need for dynamic instructional leaders. Ultimately, this will prepare HPS for success in future staffing and academic expectations within the local schools.
The requirements to participate include being a current employee of HPS, dedication to growth and an intent to be a leader in the District, a three year teaching experience with a track record of efficacy.
The leadership program has a stipend addendum. Participants will receive $1000 for each year they complete and the coordinator will receive a stipend of $3500.
Items to be listed for auction sale or salvage are three buses and a John Deere front end loader/backhoe. The John Deere dates from 1985.
The Board went into executive session for the personnel packet and afterwards there was a motion by Ms Johnson to accept, which was seconded and passed.
The Juneteenth Friday event in Historic Washington was mentioned and the change of location from the Gym to the Bronson House.
