Hempstead County Quorum Court

The Hempstead County Quorum Court met Thursday June 29th.  The JP’s approved four transfer ordinances for the county.  All were transferring American Rescue Plan (ARPA) funds to projects for the county.

One ordinance approved $15,000 to go to Courthouse Maintenance.  One transferred $361,127.25 to Construction in Progress.  Another ordinance transferred $151,133.49 to small equipment.  The last one transferred $404,00 to Machinery and Equipment.

The money went to purchase two road graders, for Patmos Phase III of the SAWS Water Project, towards the purchase of AWIN radios for the Sheriff’s Department, and for new air conditioning for the new extension office (i.e., the old Farm Bureau Building).

The JP’s heard from new Hempstead County Economic Development Corporation President Anna Powell.  She said she looks forward to helping the county as she works to bring industry to our county.

Terrie James gave an update on the new extension office.  A lack of hot water in part of the courthouse was discussed and the meeting adjourned.
