Verlaine Jones, 99, of DeQueen

Verlaine Jones, 99, of DeQueen passed away July 28th in DeQueen.  She was born Feb. 16th, 1924 in Crocker, Indiana.

Verlaine and her husband Haskell were part owners in and operated KXAR-AM in Hope from 1960 to 1975.  Following their years in Hope they purchased KDQN in DeQueen.  While operating KDQN the Jones added an FM station.  They retired from radio in the early 1980’s.  Verlaine was also instrumental in the early activities of what became Rainbow of Challenges.

Verlaine is survived by a son, Lance Jones of Hot Springs and a grandson, Brian Jones of Conway.

Services will be Friday August 4th at First Christian Church in DeQueen at 11am.
