First United Methodist Church of Hope Donates to Domestiv Violence Prevention

Members of the First United Methodist Church of Hope recently assembled “emergency bags” to be donated to the local office of Domestic Violence Prevention, Inc. (DVP).  Each bag contained needed toiletry items such as shampoo, a washcloth, a toothbrush, etc.; and comfort items including socks, lotion, individual packages of tissues, and a small inspirational or devotional book.
Delivering a tub-full of the bags were (left) United Methodists Mike Malek, (left from center) Debbie Malek,  Delia James and Suellen Tate.  Accepting the donation were (second and third from left) Betty Valdez, Special Populations Advocate with DVP, and Mandy Turner, Program Director for DVP, which serves five counties in southwest Arkansas from an office in Hempstead County.  Domestic Violence Prevention has a 24-hour crisis line, which can be reached at 903-793-HELP.

First United Methodists meet at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday at the historic St. Mark’s Episcopal Church at 301 S. Elm Street in Hope and welcome all to attend.
