Hempstead County Quorum Court

The Hempstead County Quorum Court met in the Courthouse on Thursday (9-28).  After the invocation, pledge and the approval of the minutes, the Court discussed and voted on the exchange of property with Pike County of a Grader for $10,000. The item is no longer usable so is being sold to be used for parts. This money will go into the road budget. The sale was approved.

JP Cheryl Stewart brought up the current art Exhibit at Southwest Arkansas Arts Council on Effie Anderson Smith which had a relative speaking about her painting and history in the area.

In other news, the County will start budget negotiations on Tuesday at 5:30 in the Courthouse. The meeting will be in the Conference room on the second floor. The public is invited to attend.
