Hempstead County Farm Bureau Celebrates “National Farmer’s Day” With Fried Pies

On Thursday, October 19, Hempstead County Farm Bureau cooked over 200 fried pies in Honor of National Farmer’s Day.  Many people stopped by to get their treat and to learn more about the importance of farmers and agriculture in Hempstead County.

Farming is Hempstead County’s  #1 Industry.   The annual Market value for Agriculture in Hempstead County averages over $232 million dollars and the net cash farm income is over $68 Million.  The agriculture production in Hempstead County is important to the state of Arkansas.   Currently in our state, we rank   #1  in Hog/Swine Production,   #5  in Broiler Production,  #6 in Cattle Production,  #7 in Pastureland for Cattle Grazing,  #7  in Timber Production,  #9 in Layers/ Egg  Production, and #12 in Pullet Production.
