AAA playoffs start Friday; Prescott hosts Palestine-Wheatley

PRESCOTT – It’s playoff time and the Curley Wolves open post-season play Friday night hosting Palestine-Wheatley.

The bracket doesn’t do the Wolves any favors as Prescott will have to play the winner of the Fordyce-Gurdon game, which, in all likelihood will be the Redbugs, in the second week. A win there would, in all probability, see Prescott facing either Charleston or Bismarck in round three.

However, who Prescott will play after Friday night is nothing more than speculation because strange things happen in the playoffs.

Week one shapes up like this: Harmony Grove has a bye; Newport hosts Smackover, Booneville entertains Drew Central, Osceola and Fouke lock horns, as do Glen Rose and Lavaca. Magnet Cove goes to Perryville, while Quitman visits Walnut Ridge and Manilla heads to Junction City. This is the top half of the AAA bracket.

In the bottom half, Salem gets a bye, Rison hosts Jessieville, Melbourne will be at Hoxie, Centerpoint goes to Mansfield, Palestine-Wheatley comes to Prescott, Gurdon makes the trip to Fordyce, Barton goes to Charleston and Hackett heads to Bismarck.

All games are scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m.
