Wednesday (11-14) at noon was the deadline to file for political office for next year’s primaries.  The Hempstead County Clerk provided a list of local candidates while the Secretary of State’s office provided a list of regional and state candidates.

State Senator Steve Crowell will face Mark Silvey in Senate District 3.  Both are Republicans.

Incumbent District 88 State Representative Danny Watson declined to run for another term.  Filing in that race are Arnetta Bradford, Dolly Henley, and Robert Leslie Bradford.

In the non-partisan race for District 38 District Judge, Ashley Tolleson Moritz, Bryce Allen Montgomery, Angi Taylor, and Dana Stone have filed.

For the Hope School Board, Incumbent David “Bubba” Powers filed for Zone 2.  Incumbent Board Member Linda Haynes of Zone 5 will face Bill Hoglund.

In Hempstead County Justice of the Peace, District 3, Incumbent Doris Brown will face Karmel Kuhn.  Brown is a Democrat, Kuhn a Republican.  In district 5, Victor Ford was the only one who filed.

There was one filing for the Blevins School Board.  Bobby Harden filed for Zone 3.

In constable races, the only contested race will be in the Garland Township with William W. Cole facing Randall Hatfield.  Both are Republicans.
