Spring Hill School Board

The Spring Hill School Board met in the Elementary School conference room on Monday (11-20).   The meeting started with a prayer and followed with the approval of the minutes and the financial report.
For the Elementary School,  the enrollment is up to 356. The principal talked about the PTO having fed them and early dismissal taking place on December 6th.
For the High School,  Coach Smith noted the enrollment was 286. He also talked about the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) having gone their conference at Hempstead Hall. The FFA went to Indianapolis.
There is a new subdivision going in which could affect school enrollments which are tight with only 7th and 10th grades having space.
For the approved expenditures (over $5,000) there were the Examiner’s Service and Early Childhood Screening through the Coop. The first was Special Education. It comes out of Federal Funds and is for an amount of $8,000. The second was $6,170 and is paid for by the state. These were both approved.
Next was KLC video and security for an amount of $6047.47. They will be adding video where there are gaps and remote locks to all the buildings which didn’t have them. This was approved.
The board talked about a continuation plan which is required by the state. This is how to keep the school going if there is an emergency. This would include diagrams and door numbers. This passed.
Next was cost-sharing with approved paid maternity leave. Six weeks were recommended, with eight for C-sections. The state will pay for half what the district pays for. They currently use sick days. There was a motion to accept it which passed.
Tabitha Rosenbaum was hired for the Preschool.
There was a motion to approve the ratifying of the contract of Brittney Chambless as recommended by prosecuting attorney Ben Hale.
There was a motion for a teacher’s bonus of $500 for Christmas. The motion passed. There will be an end of the year bonus slanted towards according to years if service.
