Ashdown crash claims life

ASHDOWN – An Ashdown man is dead following a Tuesday night collision with a train. According to the preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, Charles E. “Buddy” Young, 78, of Ashdown was northbound on U.S. Highway 71 in a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox and failed to yield at the Kiamichi Railroad crossing of Highway 71 and was struck by a train.

Young was pronounced dead at Little River Memorial Hospital. Sgt. Robert Hendricks of the Ashdown Police Department was the investigating officer. Responders included the Ashdown Police Department, Ashdown Fire Department and Pafford EMS.
