South Central Connect hosts coffee

PRESCOTT – Wednesday’s community coffee was hosted by South Central Connect and sponsored by the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce.
James Farrell said the company plans on building internet for the rest of Nevada County, but first has to meed the federal deadlines. This will be done in the next 18 months, and it could be two years before some parts of the county have access to fiber optic internet from South Central Connect. He challenged everyone to go ahead and sign up.
Shelley Tucker, public relations with South Central Connect, said if anyone can get this service they need to do so. She pointed out there’s an SEC application which can give parents more control over the content their children have access to on the internet as well as blocking some sites, and there is also an ACP plan that can get those who qualify up to $30 a month off.
South Central Connect offers television and phone service as well as high speed internet. The base price for internet service is $55 per month, which includes the modem. Installation costs are $100 and no contract is needed.
