Oakhaven Holds Annual Luminary Drive-Through
The town of Oakhaven held its annual drive-through luminaries on Friday and Saturday (12-8 and 12-9). The community has lined the streets with lighted luminaries one weekend during Christmas for many years. As usual, Santa, Mrs. Claus, and Buddy the Elf were on hand to greet the kiddos.
While the luminaries are held only one weekend, the whole community is completely lit each night with thousands of Christmas lights. The lights are expected to stay up until New Years so enjoy some Christmas cheer this year at Oakhaven! The town, which served as officer’s quarters for military personnel during the Southwest Proving Ground Days from 1940 to 1946, is primarily composed of two-story colonial style houses.
Oakhaven is located 3 miles north of I-30. Take Hazel Street/Highway 29 north from downtown Hope to state highway 32. The signs for Oakhaven can be seen from highway 32.
