Hope Watermelon Festival Treasure Hunt Raises $6,650 for Clinton Primary Angel Tree
The annual Hope Watermelon Festival Treasure Hunt is big fun for those who hunt the treasure…but the funds raised go to a very good cause. We’ll share the remarks posted by the Treasure Hunt’s organizer, John T. Miller…
I would like to take a moment to share what has happened this year.
I have learned to not think to hard about exactly how I think things will go with the treasure hunt each year and just say a prayer that the good Lord will bless the effort and good will of the people around Hope that make it possible.
With a goal of $4000 that could be donated to the Clinton Primary Angel Tree, I never know exactly how it will go.
After about 3 days of calling and seeing people it was obvious it was going to be a great year.
After giving away $1000 to the one that found the treasure, on behalf of the sponsors and the treasure hunters in Hop , I was able to deliver a check for $6,650 to the school.
I was able to take a few pictures this year of exactly what was going on in preparation for Christmas and hear the stories of the people and kids involved.
I would once again like to thank the sponsors and the hunters for allowing me the opportunity to have the feeling of being apart of something I not only believe in to be a positive part of this community but seen in action with my own eyes.
Proud.
Proud of this community for supporting the hunt.
Proud of the sponsors that without it would not be possible.
Proud of the teachers that take hours of their time to buy ,wrap, and in some cases deliver the gifts.
I hope that each of you feel even a small amount of what I feel because you should.
As a hunter, sponsor, or teacher, it take us all to make this happen.
Thank you so much , the words seen so small compared to how I feel but I hope you take them to heart.
I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed and happy New Year.
I wish God’s blessings on you all.
John T Miller
