Watermelon Production meeting

HOPE – Want to learn the ins and outs of watermelon production? We will be hosting a grower meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 20th from 5 -8 p.m. at the Hempstead County Cooperative Extension Service, 1800 E. 3rd. St., Hope.
University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture specialists will speak on topics geared toward the smaller-acreage watermelon producer typical of Southwest Arkansas. Dr. Amanda McWhirt, Extension commercial horticulture specialist will speak on planting and production, Dr. Aaron Cato, Extension horticulture IPM specialist will speak on disease and insect management, Dr. Hannah Wright Smith, Extension horticulture weed specialist will speak on weed control, and Dr. Becky McPeake, Extension wildlife specialist, will speak on nuisance wildlife control.
This meeting will benefit current producers as well as those interested in getting started with watermelons. There will be an opportunity for specialists to answer questions and for attendees to network with other producers. There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is required.
