Wilma Reece

Wilma Faye Hartsfield Reece of Hope, 96, went to be with the Lord and meet her twin for the first time on January 7, 2024.

She was born a Valentine Baby, February 14, 1927 to the late John and Roxie Cole Hartsfield.  Wilma was a twin, but her twin, a little girl named Wilba Maye died at birth. Wilma was the youngest of eight siblings.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Howard H Reece, her daughter Peggy Jean Reece, as well as her brothers Leo Hartsfield, Jack Hartsfield, John Hartsfield, Harold Hartsfield, and Herbert Hartsfield and then her sisters Louise Churchwell, Marion Connor, and Wilba May Hartsfield, and quite a few nieces and nephews.

Wilma is survived by her daughter Linda Lively and son in law David, two grandchildren: Rainna Ghormley and husband Shorty and David Lively II,  four great grandchildren: Karissa McGuire, Trent McGuire, Levin McGuire, and Haylee Ghormley, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Wilma was a member of Shover Springs Baptist Church for over 70 years and loved her church and the members. You could always find her on the back pew singing alto and entertaining any young children around, She worked many years in the Tax Assessor’s office for Hempstead County, and eventually became Hempstead County Tax Assessor and served her county for many many years. If anyone asked her about someone, she could tell the district anyone lived in. After retiring she and Howard purchased a motor home and joined the Melon City Good Sams club and traveled the country in their motor home, when she wasn’t at home spoiling her grandkids.

Wilma was also a lover of horses. She and her daughter Peggy raised Appaloosa horses and showed them all over the United States with quite a bit of success.

The family would like to thank the folks at Heather Manor nursing home for all they did for Wilma and her family. Many of them out there called her Granny and enjoyed having her read the Bible to all the folks there.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the Shover Springs Cemetery Fund 110 Hempstead 54, Hope, AR 71801.
