Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders Visiting Hope
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders is in Hope today (1-11) for her “Capitol for a Day” program. Two public appearances are scheduled, a “meet & greet” at noon at Tailgaters and a public announcement at Hope Baking Company at 4pm. While these are the official public events, persons visiting Hebrews 11 & 1 Coffee Shop in downtown Hope Thursday saw Governor Sanders enjoying coffee. Joining her were Sheriff James Singleton, State Rep. Danny Watson, Hebrews 11 & 1 owner Arnetta Bradford, State Senator Steve Crowell, County Judge Jerry Crane, and County Clerk Karen Smith.
Motorists on 2nd Street this morning may have caught Governor Sanders on 2nd Street admiring a mural painted on the windows of the old Scott’s building. The mural, entitled “Band of Hope” was painted by Micheal Sherbert of Hope several years ago. The mural depicts four prominent Hope natives who had musical components to their careers. President Bill Clinton is depicted playing his sax, Country Music Hall of Fame member Patsy Montana is shown playing her guitar, Ketty Lester is shown singing, and the current Governor’s dad, Governor Mike Huckabee is shown playing his bass guitar. Joining the governor is State Rep. Danny Watson and State Senator Steve Crowell.
