Hope Connexion has the goal of both helping feed people and helping them feed themselves. With this goal in mind the Blessing Garden has been created and expanded. As a result of donations the Blessin’ Garden has twice as many grow boxes as last year. Now soil is needed to fill them and other materials are necessary to create a fully functional garden. Volunteer labor is also helpful as Hope Connexion has limited staff and resources and thus currently isn’t able to act upon some of the well-intentioned suggestions given by others.
Materials needed are 3 cubic feet of mulch, 2 blueberry plants, one two wheeled wheelbarrow, 94 bags of garden soil, a 50 foot garden hose, 2 pairs of garden gloves, 4 -8′ x 4″ x4″ treated posts, 6-8′ x 2″ x 4″ treated boards. 20 cubic feet of composted manure has already been supplied. The need for garden soil is the most urgent
There is a Blessin’ Garden Adoption Drive with the amount for businesses of $250, Non-Profits $50 and individuals of $100.
Volunteers have come and started seeds. There is a goal to have starter plants for distribution so that people can grown their own things.
Already in place are 2 blueberry bushes, 2 blackberry bushes, 2 peach trees, 2 nectarine trees and 10 fig trees. The center also has a new beehive with local bees.
