Spring Hill School Board
The Spring Hill School Board met in the cafeteria on Monday (3-11). The meeting started with a prayer, followed by the approval of the minutes and the financial report.
The elementary school enrollment is 368 including pre K and 352 without. There will be a dental clinic on the 15th and report cards go out on the same day. For the written test 6 students were absent and will take the tests later.
For the high school the total enrollment is 291. The CTE showcase was a success with students doing an outstanding job presenting each club.
Career Day for the students will be on April 3rd.
The wellness committee meeting went well. Report cards will go out on Friday.
Caps and gowns for graduation will arrive on April 4th. May 20th is graduation. It was moved back to stay away from Mother’s Day.
For employee contracts, Jim Cruise will resign at the end of the year. Sandy Harper and Kim Hollis are retiring. There was a motion to renew the contracts of all the classified and certified staff who are interested in returning.
For expenditures over $5,000 there was only one, $6,160.23 for Southwest Co-op Early Childhood for the third quarter.
There was a motion to accept the resignation of Hollis after her 26 years of service. The motion passed.
The board explored the idea of applying for a waiver allowing to district to start classes earlier than August 19th and allowing school to let out earlier than Memorial Day.
A survey of the community and staff showed the vast majority were in favor of the revised calendar. There was a motion to accept the new calendar which also counts hours (1,068) rather than days (178). The motion carried.
There was a motion to accept the contract of Whitney Elmer for cleaning, Liles Therapy, and Nathaniel Holyfield as Wastewater Operator.
The cleaning contracts for Chad Powell and Joan Collins were tabled until the next meeting.
