PRESCOTT – There was a two-fold purpose for Wednesday’s community coffee at the Nevada County Health Unit.

First, it was to celebrate the 50th year of the Women, Infant, Children (WIC) program. This program helps pregnant woman get the nutrition they need to deliver a healthy baby, and, once the baby’s born, to provide it with formula. The program is for children up to the age of five, providing them with nutritious foods at no cost.

The second reason for the coffee was the 50th anniversary of Janice Honea’s being with the Arkansas Department of Health. Honea was surprised, having no idea her anniversary was part of the celebration. Friends, family and colleagues were on hand to congratulate Honey on this milestone. She told the audience she has no plans to stop working anytime soon.

It was pointed out Honea is one of three people to have hit the half-century mark with the ADH.
