Hempstead County Quorum Court

The Hempstead County Quorum Court met on Thursday( 3-28). The topic on the agenda was reimbursement of the money the Hempstead County Economic Development Corporation spent for mailing and printing the Broadband challenge. The total was $4,121. A motion was made to approve which passed.
Heather Leonard, a Spring Hill resident asked the Court to designate 1 mile of roadway in her son Preston’s honor. He had been clean for two years and went on a four day binge and died of an accidental overdose of fentanyl. While being a resident of Spring Hill he was found in Little Rock. His mother donated $50 this year to the little league player with the highest reading score. Future donations will be $100. It is called the Preston Kindness Award. David Clayton, the JP for the district, stated it wasn’t really Court business, but he would be happy to connect her with the Judge. The roadway would be from Anderson Baptist Church.
