PRESCOTT – Easter came a bit early at Southern Pines, as an Easter Egg Hunt and movie night were held Friday evening.

The event kicked off with the staff “hiding” eggs for youngsters in three age groups: 0-2. 3-6 and 7 and up. However, patience wasn’t something the children had much off as they were anxious to get the hunt started early. Some had to be told to put eggs back after picking them up before their age group took to the field. It was understandable as there were tickets in some of the eggs for prizes – bicycles – for each age division. It was easy to figure out who found tickets as the children shouted in delight, letting everyone know.

More than 1,300 eggs were hidden for the hunters to find. In addition to the egg hunt, there was a snack bar with candy and chips. Money raised from the sale of snacks was donated to the Kiwanis Club for its projects. There was also free popcorn to go along with the movie, “Peter Rabbit”, shown on a screen donated by Healthcare Xpress of Texarkana.
