PRESCOTT – Hunters and those interested in home protection no longer have to go elsewhere to purchase firearms.

A ribbon cutting was held by the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Thursday morning for Askew Arms, 219 NC 48S. The business is owned by Paul and Catherine Askew. Paul said he’s always been interested in guns and shooting. Owning a gun shop was an idea. He did the research, applied for and was approved for a federal firearm license (FFL).

From there the business began. Askew Arms sells handguns, rifles and shotguns, along with ammunition for all kinds of weapons. He buys guns from Sport South, Lipsey’s, Zanders and Country Wide, looking for the best deal to keep prices reasonable for customers.

Catherine said they’ve been in business since March 1. She welcomed everyone and said they can get gun, rifle or ammo people want. She added Paul is good at cleaning and fixing guns, though he’s not a gunsmith. For problems he can’t fix, she said, he’ll find someone who can.
