Good turnout for Emmet health fair

EMMET – Rain held off Saturday, allowing the Emmet Health Fair to be held at the pavilion in Firemen’s Park as planned.

Earlier in the week there were concerns the event would have to be moved to the storm shelter, but the weather cooperated and the pavilion was packed with vendors and visitors. While the rain held off, the wind didn’t and papers were blown hither and yon. DeAnna Allen, one of the sponsors, said the fair was to educate people of the services available. The event, she added, was sponsored by the United Christian Church, Wadley Regional Hospital and the city of Emmet.

Visitors were asked to sign in as they arrived and were given a sheet with all the vendors on it. They were told to get at least 10 vendors to sign so they’d be eligible for a door prize.

Booths at the event included: Pregnancy Resource of Hope, UA Extension Service, Pafford Ambulance, Imagination Library, Wadley Rural Clinic, prostate cancer, domestic violence, breast care, diabetes, Area Agency on Aging, cancer, Arkansas Tobacco Control Coalition, Hope Public School nurses, prostate cancer, childcare aware, Wadley Regional Medical Hospital, and Gentiva Home Care.

Patrons were also given a bag at the entrance to put their information and swag in. Most booths gave something away and all had information to pass out.
