Hope Kiwanis Club Hears Program About Train Day May 4th

The Hope Kiwanis Club heard from Sharon Caldwell of the Hope Tourism Commission on Tuesday (4-30) concerning Train Day.  The festival is set for this Saturday (5-4) in the downtown area.  Caldwell says things kick off at 9am when the vendors open and the “kid’s korner” behind Tailgaters opens.  There will be a kiddie train to give children rides all day.  “Kids Korner” also includes inflatables, bungee jumping, and a rock-climbing wall.  All these activities are free for the kids.

The young ladies from “Danctastics” will perform at 10am at Train Day.  Caldwell says that the young ladies enjoy dancing at Train Day and their families enjoy seeing them.  At 11:30am, there will be a “box train” race.  At noon, a musical act, “Heather & Jace” from Bloomburg, Texas will perform.  A magic show is set for 1:30pm.  Caldwell said that had been very popular in the past.  This will also include “balloon animals” and face painting.  At 3pm entertainer Jay Kirgis will perform.  The rib cook-off will also be underway.  On Main Street between 2nd and 3rd will be the Plow Boys Car Show.  SWARK will also give away free hot dogs.  At 4pm the rib cook-off winners will be announced and Wyatt Putman will be performing at 4:15pm until about 6pm.  Several of the rib cook-off participants will sell rib plates after the cook-off.

Train Day is sponsored by the Hope Tourism Commission and everyone is invited to attend.
