Blevins Graduation

Blevins High School held its graduation at Hempstead Hall on Saturday (5-11). The ceremony starting with the processional to the tune of “Pomp and Circumstance” by Elgar.
The National Anthem was led by Kalynn Highlander, the Pledge by Kyle Hampton, the prayer by Darious Petroff and the Spanish prayer by Daniela Gomez.
Mrs. Stephanie Dixon gave the Superintendent’s Welcome. After giving welcoming those attending, she gave a special thanks to Mr. Justin Michler, who acknowledged the awards the students received.  Mrs. Dixon also recognized the senior class for standing on business. She stated although it was the smallest graduating class in Hempstead County, the students had received more awards than anywhere else in the County.
There was a salutatory address by Rylee Cole Powell. He thanked everyone for coming out and mentioned a person in his speech that made others laugh.  Marcasja Deshane Glenn, the valedictorian, also thanked everyone for coming out and her parents for pushing her. Glenn spoke about High School being a bunch of pieces to be figured out. A large piece she said was memories and gave thanks for 12 years of memories.
There was a presentation of flowers by the seniors.
With the acknowledgement of awards, Glenn won a number of awards including $3,500 from UAHT, $6,000 from Henderson, $500 from Hempstead Retired Teachers, $1,000 from Omega Psi Phi and $14,000 from Arkansas Academic Challenge.
A total of $417, 450 was received by the graduates.
The graduating class included Dennis Michael Allen, Avery Renee Bazelle, Decameron Darnell Brown Jakeryon Brown, Laura Cantu, Marcasja Desshane Glenn, Daniela Gomez,Addison Halsell, Kyle Daniel Hampton, Alexa Maria Hernandez, Tanner Gallon Hickey, Kaylnn Mai Highlander, Savannah Allene Langston, Kristina McKenzie, Darious Jesse Petroff, Rylee Cole Powell, Dixie Kaue Purtle, Evan Adrian Rodriguez, Cadence Joy Smith, Tyler Edward Stegall, Amarion Dessawn Welch, Brook Whaley and Takeyla Williamson.
Mrs. DeAnne Davis presented the class, there was a benediction by Dixie Purtle and the recessional to the tune of “Aida” by Verdi.
